Ciao, readers! It’s time for another bi-monthly update—can you believe it? I’m glad I didn’t decide to do this every month; time just keeps speeding up.
Ciao, lectores! Ya es hora de otro resumen bimensual, ¿pueden creerlo? Me alegra no haber decidido hacer esto todos los meses, el tiempo no deja de acelerar.
Last update, I didn’t have much to share, but this time I do, and it fills me with excitement, so let’s get started:
El resumen pasado no tuve nada para contar, pero este sí y me llena de emoción, así que empecemos:
The Ironlight is finished and will be out in the next few days; following advice from someone more knowledgeable about social media and trends than I am, I’ll be waiting until after the Halloween rush has passed. People often look for other types of content during that time and may skip over non-themed “just published” listings.
La Luz de Hierro está terminado y saldrá en los próximos días; por consejo de alguien que sabe más de redes sociales y tendencias que yo, esperaré a que pase el rush de Halloween, que suele empujar a la gente a buscar otro tipo de contenido y saltar lo que está en la lista de «recién publicado» que no es de esta temática.
As always, along with the book release announcement, you’ll be able to read the first few chapters for free, in case you like to fall in love with a story before spending money on it. If you don’t want to wait until then, I’m sharing a snippet of the six interior illustrations (done by T-Kali, who also did the artwork for Found in Erebus) to let the main character start making their way into your hearts.

In other news, Prince Awakening and The Perfect Word both have new covers (click to see them!). The first is just an adjustment of the original design, but the second is a complete redesign. These two were the first books I published, and I didn’t know as much about cover design back then. Plus, I had designed them for print instead of digital publishing, which meant they weren’t as effective at quickly conveying the book’s theme—something essential nowadays when everything is seen as a tiny thumbnail speeding by on your phone.
En otras noticias, «Príncipe despertando» y «La palabra perfecta» tienen nuevas portadas (¡click para verlas!). La del primero es sólo un reajuste del diseño ya conocido, pero la del segundo es totalmente nueva. Estos dos libros fueron los primeros que publiqué y no sabía tanto de diseño de portadas en aquel entonces, además de que las había diseñado pensando en imprenta en vez de publicación digital. Eso significaba que no estaban siendo del todo efectivas en comunicar la temática del libro en una impresión rápida, lo cual es vital en estos tiempos en los que todo se ve en miniatura y pasa muy rápido por tu teléfono.
And the final news to share this cycle is related to The Perfect Word: my project for this NaNoWriMo (the annual November writing marathon I join every year) is a sequel to this book. It’ll be called The Houses of Death, and like all my books, it won’t require having read any previous work to understand and enjoy it (although reading The Perfect Word won’t be a bad idea for a bit of prep). I hope to publish The Houses of Death this year as well, as it’ll be a shorter book, and the marathon pushes me to work quickly, but I’ll have a more accurate date after the marathon. Y la última noticia para compartir este ciclo está relacionada a «La palabra perfecta»: el proyecto que escribiré durante este NaNoWriMo (maratón anual de escritura durante noviembre en la que participo todos los años) es una secuela de este libro. Se llamará «Las casas de la muerte» y, como todos mis libros, no requerirá haber leído otro antes para entenderlo y disfrutarlo (aunque leer «La palabra perfecta» no será mala idea como preparativo). Espero publicar «Las casas de la muerte» este año también, ya que será un libro breve y la maratón me obliga a trabajar rápido, pero tendré una fecha más precisa al finalizar la maratón. Si quieren estar al tanto de cómo avanzo, pueden seguirme en mi nueva y flamante cuenta de BlueSky, donde planeo poner mi contador de palabras a diario, además de compartir algunas frases de esta y otras historias a medida que trabajo.
