Hello, reader, how lovely to see you again! I hope your life is moving along at a good pace despite the horrors that come up from time to time. It’s no coincidence that the god of life in Errantia is a trickster archetype, and many see him dressed as a court fool.
My next novel, Until the Day the Gods Arrived, is progressing at a good rhythm, and I expect to publish it no later than the end of August, just in time for the next bimonthly update. I’ve talked about this book quite a bit already, and I don’t want to repeat myself, but if you enjoy gay romance, art, history, the Italian city of Florence (Firenze), or all of the above, this is a book you can’t miss. I’ll be sharing more information and perhaps some sample excerpts in the near future.

Mi próxima novela, «Hasta el día que los dioses llegaron», está avanzando a buen ritmo y tengo expectativas de publicarla a más tardar a fines de agosto, a tiempo para el próximo resumen bimensual. Ya he hablado mucho de este libro y no quiero repetirme, pero si te gusta el romance gay, el arte, la historia, la ciudad italiana de Florencia (Firenze) o todas las anteriores, éste es un libro que no puedes perderte. Estaré compartiendo más información y tal vez algunos fragmentos de muestra en el futuro cercano.
During editing, since it doesn’t demand much creative effort, I decided to start planning other stories. This time, two ideas came up. The first is a short novel featuring the history teacher Ink and the master judge Scythe from Revolution Reign as protagonists, showing their pasts in an Ars Vigil set before Reign was born, when the legendary Lord Brethren was still in power.
The plan is to start it after finishing Until the Day the Gods Arrived, but it’s already in the final stages of planning. It’s a short, dynamic story, so I hope to have it finished not too long after I sit down to write it. If you know these characters, it might come as a surprise (but if you know me, it really shouldn’t) that this story will also be a gay romance. I swear I don’t seek out this genre, it falls into my hands like seeds carried by the wind, sprouting the moment I give them a second of attention.
En tiempos de corrección, dado que conlleva poco esfuerzo creativo, he decidido ponerme a planear otras historias. Esta vez surgieron dos. La primera es una novela corta con el mastro de historia Ink y el juez Scythe de «Revolución Reign» como protagonistas, mostrando sus pasados en un Ars Vigil previo al nacimiento de Reign, cuando todavía estaba el legendario lord Brethren al poder.
El plan es empezarla tras terminar «Hasta el día que los dioses llegaron», pero ya está en fases finales de planeación. Es una historia corta y dinámica, así que espero tenerla terminada en poco tiempo una vez me siente a escribir. Si conoces a estos personajes tal vez sea una sorpresa (pero si me conoces a mí, no debería serlo) que esta historia sea otro romance gay. Juro que no busco este género, llega a mis manos en la forma de semillas transportadas por el viento que germinan ni bien les pongo un segundo de atención.
The second story I began planning came about when I opened the old file from Found in Erebus. I wanted to reread a chapter I’d discarded and stumbled upon one of the test texts. These are fragments I write to test out the voice of certain characters (mostly historical ones), much like a painter makes several drawings testing out poses before settling on a final image to paint.
This particular text was about Achilles, and reading it inspired an idea: an anthology about Greek heroes at the moment of their fall. I already had two other characters looking for their own stories that could fit this theme, so an anthology struck me as the perfect solution. I’m still working out who will be featured and other basic aspects of the book’s structure, so it’ll be a while yet. But for the impatient among you, I decided to publish the Achilles fragment that inspired me. I don’t like sharing work-in-progress because my standards are very high, so I’ve made it exclusive to my patrons, at all levels. La segunda historia que empecé a planear es algo que surgió cuando abrí el viejo archivo de trabajo de «Encontrado en el Érebo«. Quería revisar un capítulo que había descartado y me tropecé con uno de los textos de prueba. Éstos son fragmentos que escribo para ensayar la voz de ciertos personajes (sobre todo históricos), del mismo modo que un dibujante hace varios bocetos probando poses antes de decidirse por una imagen final.
En este texto se trataba de Aquiles y leerlo me inspiró una idea: una antología sobre heroes griegos al momento de sus caídas. Tenía ya otros dos personajes en busca de su propia historia que podían alinearse con esta temática, por lo que una antología me pareció la solución perfecta. Todavía estoy planeando quiénes aparecerán y otros aspectos básicos de la estructura del libro, por lo que se hará esperar. Pero, para aquellos impacientes, decidí publicar el fragmento de Aquiles que me inspiró. No me gusta compartir mi trabajo en proceso porque tengo estándares muy altos, por lo que decidí hacerlo exclusivo para mis patrons, en todos los niveles.
