Hello, reader! I set the reminder wrong on my phone and almost forgot to make this post. If it seems a little less polished than usual, it’s because I ran out of time.
In my previous monthly updates, I mentioned that «Revolution Reign: King» was almost finished and that I hoped to publish it, along with a novel about Master Ink and Sir Scythe, during the first half of the year.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible because… honestly, I don’t know. I have no idea where the time went. I have been working, I swear, but the days just evaporate in this heat.
So where am I in the process now? I still haven’t revised the Ink and Scythe story beyond chapter one, but «Revolution Reign» is moving forward. I’m confident both books will come out this year, I just need certain characters to keep quiet for a month or two.
If you follow me on BlueSky, you’ve probably seen that I’ve started outlining three more books. I don’t know how it happened. One day I was complaining that I had no new ideas; the next, Sin, Tresh, and Amé were kicking my head from the inside, demanding that I let them out. It’s still too early to tell you their stories, but I can share a little.
- Tresh’s story will open the door to a brand-new saga. Each book will stand on its own while sharing the same setting: a tree outside of time, where the «Nightlight Coven», a group of witches from different worlds and realities, come together to discover and develop their magic. Tresh will be my first AFAB protagonist and narrator, so she’ll be a challenge for me. In case you don’t know, I’m nonbinary, and my protagonists are always men because I feel more comfortable inhabiting their minds and spirits; writing women triggers my gender dysphoria. But I want to do this for Tresh. She’s worth it. And if the dreams I’ve been having this month are any indication, her presence is already helping me heal wounds from my past.
- Amé’s story (and Gionata) will be another romance, since these two are Iskandar and Davide in an alternate reality (just like the second Iskandar and D’oro, for those who read «From Now, Forever»). It will be a completely standalone story, not a sequel or a prequel, just another way in which these souls found each other. This time Amé (Davide) will be the narrator, and with him there will be gods, angels, a moral and divine conflict, and a witch determined to bite God on the ankles (as the proper raccoon that Iskandar-Gio is).
- As for Sindanphel… I’m not even sure I can call what they have a «story.» Everything I have so far points toward a book that will be more of an experience than a novel, something to read in order to ignite the imagination and leave you feeling that the universe is not a cold, indifferent place, but a heart overflowing with curiosity and love for every being that lives within it. Sin is a challenging character, and I don’t even know what shape this book will ultimately take, but their company nourishes my spirit so deeply that I don’t want to abandon them just because the final result will be unconventional.
These three books are still in their infancy. I’m developing the conflicts, naming the characters, and planning the worldbuilding, so everything could still change. But the more I allow myself to explore these new stories, the more I can feel my life partner breathing down my neck, telling me to stop getting distracted and finally finish «Revolution Reign» (even though he’s always the first to get excited whenever I say I’ve come up with a new idea).
